They’re not new to making statements
The church frequently speaks up when it comes to matters of social justice and civil rights.
Earlier this year, Steve Carlsen, dean and rector at Christ Church Cathedral and member of the Indianapolis Congregation Action Network served chaired and gave opening remarks at a Faith in Indiana event in support of Dreamers and DACA. The church also took part in last weekend’s Keep Families Together rally.
For Indy Pride, church members marched in the parade. Throughout the month, they showed their support by placing a rainbow banner outside of the building.
Church leaders also took part in several rallies protesting the police shooting of Aaron Bailey. Bailey worshiped with the congregation, attended the community breakfasts on Sundays and volunteered during the Strawberry Festival fundraiser.
